Piper ribesioides is a plant belonging to the Piperaceae family, native to the tropical regions of Central and South America. It is a perennial herbaceous plant that can grow both as a climbing plant and as a shrub, reaching heights of up to 2 meters.

The leaves of Piper ribesioides are oval or heart-shaped, bright green in color and have a leathery texture. The flowers are small and grow in terminal spikes, usually white or pale green. The plant also produces small spherical fruits, black or purple in color, containing seeds.

Piper ribesioides is valued primarily for its medicinal and aromatic properties. Its leaves and fruits are used in some medical traditions to treat gastrointestinal disorders, headaches and muscle pain. Additionally, the leaves can be used to flavor some regional dishes.

This plant grows in moist, shady forest habitats, often along stream edges or in rainforests.
