This small climbing fern comes from the islands of the Philippine archipelago, Papua, Solomon Islands and New Caledonia.
The leaves are 5 to 8 cm long and hard. The prominent veins on the leaves give them a structure somewhat reminiscent of the famous Anthurium veitchii .
Humata heterophylla crawls or climbs on any surface and can even attach itself to terrarium glass with its adhesive roots.
This fern grows rather slowly and is resistant to dry air and dehydration. However, it grows even better in a terrarium. It can also be grown as a trailing plant, but in this case it grows less densely.
Always keep the soil or support material slightly moist and place it in a place with the highest possible humidity and intense, indirect light. Due to the high humidity required, the plant tolerates only morning or evening sun. Baths or terrariums are therefore the most suitable for taking care of this plant. To increase humidity, the plant can also be sprayed regularly with distilled water.
