Episcia dianthiflora

Episcia dianthiflora is a small Gesneriaceae widespread from southern Mexico to northwestern Colombia. It grows as a dense ground cover but can also climb onto moist surfaces. Without climbing aid it remains very flat, only about 5cm high. It has round, soft leaves with a light red spot on the veins. The large white flowers are particularly striking. They have five petals that grow in a tube at the base and are divided into shaggy appendages at the top. The flowers measure up to 5 cm and are therefore noticeably larger than the leaves, which only measure about 3 cm. After it is established, it blooms constantly, sometimes with more, sometimes with fewer flowers.

In the terrarium it is extremely easy to care for and quickly forms a dense carpet.
